Description:  Using a men's necktie, we will make a bowtie for a little boy or even smaller versions.

What you will need to bring:  
Bring a tie that you would like to use.  There will be a few ties donated from ward member's closets, but you could also check D.I.  The D.I.'s ties are $3.  You can get 2-3 bowties out of one tie. 
Also, bring the person's neck measurement.

"May" We Be Prepared

We each have strengths when it comes to being prepared.  As we sat together planning this activity, it was clear that if we could bring our collective knowledge together we would be better prepared.  This day will be an opportunity for each of us to share.

Sign-ups will begin on Sunday, March 17th through March 31st (Easter).  Contact Becki Broadbent or Michelle Judd.

Gardening 101

This session we will discuss how to make a garden work in this area as well as ways we can work together (perhaps buying seeds in bulk) to make our gardens successful.

Description:  In the rocky soil of Kearns, garden boxes can be a great way to have success with a garden.  Last year we had a demonstration regarding how to build these, but this year we are going to try our hand at making smaller versions.

Provided:  Wood, screws/nails

What you will need to bring:  If you have a drill and hammer, it would be helpful if you could bring them.  If not, we will have some there to use.


Discussion:  We want to discuss how to be successful with gardens in our area.  Other items of interest could be: composting, buying seeds in bulk, heirloom seeds, etc.

Emergency Preparedness

The discussion during this session will be centered around what we can do to be better prepared for emergencies.  In addition to the great ideas that we each will share, we will discuss what things we are planning to do as a Relief Society this coming year.



72 Hr Starter Tool Kit

Cost: $10 (estimate)

Description: The basic tools for a 72-hr kit

Provided: This could include, but not limited to: glowsticks, hand warmers, mylar blankets, vinyl gloves, waterproof matches, LED flashlight, masks.  There might be more depending on how many sign up and how much we can purchase with the funds.

What you will need to bring: container or bag to put the kit into.  

(Kelsi has a signup for an Emergency Essentials bag that is on sale during March.  She will be gathering money and buying those bags in you are interested.)

Discussion:  How to prepare for emergencies, what we are planning to do for the coming year in relation to preparedness.  Tips and tricks to store/use/rotate 72 hr kits.

Dipping Chocolates Made Easy

Mmmm! Chocolate!
Dipping chocolates have been a tradition in Becki's family since she was a child.  Becki's mom, Paula Anderson, will show us easy ways to dip chocolates and there might even be taste testing.









Emergency Preparedness

With the recent wildfire evacuations and the potential Utah earthquake, being prepared for an emergency is an important thing for all of our families.  Since emergencies aren't "planned" we are making a plan for the unplanned.


Indexing

There will be someone there to show us how easy indexing can be.  There will be a few laptops there if you want to take some time to try it out.

Service Project

We will have some quilts or blankets there to work on.  We will be donating these blankets to either The Road Home shelter or Primary Children's Hospital.


Bring your own project

You are always welcome to bring an unfinished project to complete in the company of some pretty fun people. :)

Childcare will be provided.  Please let Michelle or Jenny know if you need this service.

We are asking for others to give of their time on a Saturday, so please be mindful of their time.   We may only be able to offer care for a portion of the day.
